The Vision
The artists and activists of Joe's Movement Emporium are poised to
triple the size of the facility, which occupies three formerly vacant
storefronts. We envision creating a stable platform from which to
present and expand a unique blend of programs that promotes multicultural
arts and traditions in our neighborhood.
The size and features of a warehouse a block away from our current
facility in the town center of Mt. Rainier, Maryland, are ideal. The
former Direct Mail Building at 3309 Bunker Hill Road has 20,000 square
feet on two levels, parking lot, and ample front porch space.
Located just one block from Mt. Rainier Elementary School and within
walking distance of Christian Family Montessori School, the new Joe's
will provide a convenient, welcoming space in which to present multicultural
arts and deepen relationships within and around our richly diverse
community. A cafe will drawa larger audience and retain post-performance
traffic; a pantry kitchen will house an after school culinary education
program in partnership with the Capital Area Food Bank. Also, the
mix of rental space for individual artists and small arts organizations
will generate a solid revenue stream. A permanent home for Joe's will
be an aristic and educational hub that continues to foster individual
and neighborhood growth and demonstrates the economic strength of
the regions arts community. |
