Welcome to Joe's!

Who is Joe? Everybody is a Joe because everyone can move!

Joe's Movement Emporium is the community performing arts center of Prince George's County.

Founded in 1992, World Arts Focus provides educational and cultural programs integrating dance, movement and performing arts traditions from around the world. In 1995, the organization opened a storefront space in Mount Rainier called Joe’s Movement Emporium. Joe’s serves as a professional space for a diverse range of artists by providing rehearsal and performance space throughout the year. Over the past sixteen years, Joe's has provided the community with access to a wide array of learning opportunities that include job training for at-risk teens and year-round arts experiences for low to moderate-income families. In 2007, the new Joe’s opened, expanding to 20,000 square feet and renovating an abandoned direct mail facility to create a new performing arts center.

To give you an idea of the impact Joe's makes, here are a few highlights:

- More than 40,000 people visited Joe's last year.

- Joe's sponsored a full season of 122 performances in the 120-seat Meyer Performance Theatre.

- Joe's served more than 3,000 youth ages 5-21 with a diverse range of educational programs rooted in the performing arts.

- Joe's provided over $90,000 in financial aid to families with children in youth programs.

- Among students in the Theater Tech Program (TTP), 90% obtained a high school diploma.

- Over the past two years, enrollment nearly doubled for Club Joe's, the out-of-school time arts enrichment program.

--Joe’s offers more than 20 adult classes each week in performance and movement traditions from around the world include Yoga, Zumba, Hip-hop, Belly Dance and Hula Hooping.

--Joe’s is the artistic home to 25 professional artist companies who rehearse, perform and teach in education programs.
