GROUNDBREAKING FOR THE NEW JOE'S!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 18, 2005
Groundbreaking for the New Joe’s!

Joe’s Movement Emporium hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on March 14, 2005 at 10am for their new facility located at 3309 Bunker Hill Rd., Mt. Rainier, MD. Remarks were made by Representative Chris Van Hollen (Maryland 8th District), and several others speakers. “I have personally witnessed the hundreds of children whose lives will be forever changed due to their participation at Joe’s. I am not exaggerating when I say that Joe’s has served to provide hope, confidence and a sense of pride and belonging,” stated Steve Shaff of Community Vision Consultants, whose company has pledged $150,000 to the capital campaign. Indeed the youth have played a significant role in Joe’s success, and they were at the ceremony as well, doing dance and circus tricks to entertain and ordain the new Meyer Theatre.

Charles Berrin, Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta Advisory Council Member also commented that, “we view this as a great investment. There is little doubt in our minds that great artists will walk through your doors and go on to make significant contributions to our region and nations cultural fabric.”

This groundbreaking follows the purchase of the Direct Mail Building in December 2004, as Joe’s Movement Emporium. Renovations will begin in April and the expected move-in time is fall of 2005.

This event was sponsored by BB&T and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta.
