Robot Studio Workshop
SAT. OCT. 28 - DEC. 16 | 10 AM - 12 NOON | $250 FOR 8 WEEKS | AGES 10 - 14
December 16th is a DOUBLE SESSION and runs from 10 am - 2 pm.
Cost: $200 for 7 weeks
Robot Studio Workshops get kids coding in minutes, even kids who are terrified of math and kids who have no experience coding. The secret? Sphero a playful robot that introduces kids to the world of robotics and computer science in a unique and engaging way.
Sphero also lets kids discover and experience fundamental STEM principles and theories in practice. In Robot/Studio Workshop I, students explore Newton’s Laws of Motion through a series of challenging activities. They learn how to problem solve, think scientifically and create unique solutions, the same way that programmers, scientists and engineers do in the real world.
The workshop seeks to ease anxiety around math and science by letting kids learn by doing, guided by their natural sense of curiosity and playfulness.
In a future where coding and STEM will be as important as reading and writing, Sphero instills the desire to create and explore using the language and tools of tomorrow.
On the final day, students will present their Sphero projects to friends in family in a showcase and guest judges will award Mini Spheros for the best projects.

Instructor Wail Khalid
Wail Khalid comes to Joe’s with over a decade of experience producing video for public television and non-profit organizations and a lifelong interest in technology. In 2013, Wail discovered a passion for working with young adults while producing a promotional video for a youth center. Using a workshop model, Wail developed and implemented a curriculum that gives young adults insight and tools to decoding, critically analyzing, and creating visual media. Wail also recognized the need to empower young minds by demystifying the technology that dominates many of today’s life experiences. He developed a hands-on workshop that not only teaches coding and robotics, but also brings fundamental scientific theories and engineering concepts to life. His hope is that this approach to learning will inspire the next generation of programmers, engineers, scientists and garage tinkerers.
Wail Khalid has BA in Anthropology from the American University in Cairo, an MA in Media Studies from The New School in New York City and a Cambridge ESL Certification from Academia in Basel, Switzerland.
