Creativity Explored
Session I: June 16 - June 19, 2008

What do you get when you mix some of the regions' most sought after movement and visual artists with a group of children ages 3-6? Lot's of creative fun! Mornings will be filled with age-appropriate activities exploring a variety of movement, storytelling, singing and visual art experiences. In the afternoon, splashing and outdoor art projects will take place at PG Community Pool in Mt. Rainier, MD. This camp will aid in the development of self awareness, basic motor skills, self-confidence, independent thinking, and social interaction skills. There will be performances bi-weekly for family and friends to enjoy. It all adds up to fun in the sun!




Xtreme Movement
Session I: June 30 - July 11, 2008
Session II: July 14 - July 25, 2008
Session III: July 28 - August 8, 2008
9:00am - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday

Ages 6 - 13
Tuition: $300 per session

Massive amounts of movement are what your child will experience in this camp. Dancing, Jump Roping, Hooping, Tumbling, Stepping and more. Afternoons are filled with practicing age appropriate physical comedy and splashing at Prince George’s Community Pool in Mt. Rainier, MD. This two-week camp will develop motor skills, creativity, self-discipline, self-esteem, problem-solving skills, and social interaction. Camp culminates with Friday evening performances.



 

Dance Camp
Session I: July 28- August 8, 2008
9:00am - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday
Ages 4 -7, 8 - 14
Tuition: $225 per session

In depth training in a variety of dance techniques, such as modern, jazz, hip-hop and step. This camp will develop self-confidence, and social interaction. Students will learn choreography that will be performed the last day of camp for family and friends to enjoy.

Ancestral Knowledge Summer Camps

Woods Wise
Session I:
10:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday

Ages: 8-14
Tuition: $180.00 per session


Become Woods Wise as we explore our natural surroundings, becoming more comfortable in the wilderness. Our one-of-a-kind nature camp provides an exciting week of adventure and games while we wander through one of our local forests. The participants will learn how to blend and flow within nature while working together in small groups to hone their awareness skills and learn about the natural world. Wandering with no time or destination the campers are guided through experiences that nurture their connection to the earth and allow them to feel at home in the natural world. While in a safe learning environment, with experienced instructors, our participants will learn several ancient practical skills. These skills include: Primitive Pottery, Animal tracking, Lost Proofing, Basic Wilderness Survival, Plant identification, Caretaking, One-match fires, & Much More....

Wisdom of the Woods
Session I

(Participant must have atended Woods Wise day camp)

 

Come join for our Wisdom of the Woods wilderness survival workshop. This program is the next step in becoming closer to the earth and all that it offers. This week long day camp will show you how to use your instincts to survive in the woods as well as give you more advanced skills for long term adventures into the wilderness whether locally or abroad. During this exciting week of discovery you will learn such skills as fire by friction, shelter building, animal tracking, hunting and trapping techniques, wilderness awareness techniques, primitive cooking, pottery, and caretaking of the earth. While building the self esteem, confidence and motivation to be able to survive the elements, these skills will open the doors to a way of life you could only dream of. This is an experience bound to leave you with a new way to approach and experience the great outdoors.
Once you have the wisdom of the woods nature will share with you its hidden treasures!

 

For Each Camp Child Must Bring:

-knife(optional)
-pencil and pen
-small backpack or hip pouch (to carry journals)
-lunch and snacks (bag lunch)
-water bottle (with water 32 oz)
-dress for the weather (in clothes that can get dirty)
-blindfold (extra tee shirt or bandanna)
