Since 2001, Joe’s Movement Emporium has led the community of Mount Rainier in a clean-up initiative that has greatly impacted the knowledge of both children and adults on the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling.

During Sweeping the Avenue, community members take part in various workshops, performances and activities related to trash reduction and also take part in cleaning up the neighborhood. As a result, the streets are trash-free and people are educated about trash reduction, making a conscious effort to reduce, reuse and recycle.
