Workforce Development

Theater Tech Program (TTP) is a workforce development program that uses training in technical theatre as a conduit to provide employment opportunities and job preparedness training while enhancing academic achievement for thirty low-income youth, ages 16-21. Throughout the program, students receive tutoring, SAT test preparation, and incentivized job preparedness workshops. Offered in three-hour sessions, these workshops cover such topics as: “What Makes a Good Employer/Employee?,” “Resumes and Application,” “Interview Skills,” “Interview Evaluation,” and “Career/Education Goal Setting.” After successful completion of the trainings, participants receive paid internships at Joe’s Movement Emporium and with partnering arts and entertainment organizations or local businesses. Joe’s staff hosts employer panels and provides personal assistance to participants with job searches and applications in an attempt to secure full-time employment for those program participants that choose not to attend college.
