ABOUT THE CHOREOGRAPHER

Madeline Maxine Gorman is a Maryland native who graduated as a commencement speaker from Towson University with her B.F.A. in Dance Performance & Choreography and B.S. in Mass Communication. Described as a “raw talent” and “a treasure that can push her and the dance community in the right direction” (Charm City Dance), her choreography explores societal issues through the combination of contemporary movement with projection, music, spoken word, humor, and audience engagement.

Gorman has performed with The Towson University Dance Company, The Collective, RawArts Dance, Extreme Lengths, DEVIATED THEATRE, and BlueShift Dance. She has worked for Christopher K. Morgan & Artists, Dance Place, and Jacob’s Pillow. Her choreography has been featured in The Collective Open Marley Night, Inertia Concert, BIDA Choreographer’s Showcase, SPRINGBOARD Performance Series, Peabody Dance! Festival, and Joy of Motion’s Dance Project Showcase. Gorman self-produced ADDICT, a show about the representation of addicts in American media that ran for two sold-out nights at the Baltimore Theatre Project in March 2019. Over $4,000 in ticket sales and donations went to Helping Up Mission’s project to build a new homeless shelter in Baltimore for women and children affected by addiction. An excerpt from ADDICT was performed in The Ascending Choreographer’s Festival, where it was voted Audience Favorite. Most recently, she was commissioned by Joe’s Movement Emporium as part of their 2019-2020 season “When Hate Hits Home” to present her new evening-length work Veritas, premiering May 2020.

Madeline Maxine Gorman is an established LLC in the state of Maryland and a fiscal sponsor of the 501c3 organization Fractured Atlas.
