Do you get stuck when developing new material?
Would you like to explore methods of finding that spark from within that you can ignite into physical comedy?
Join us for some structured play and exploration into "Clown Logic," and the "Clown Brain" as we roll up our tattered sleeves and find the beautifully absurd cartoon living inside of you.
"Build your Clown Act" will take you from where you are to where you would like to go ... if where you would like to go is to be more skilled in finding the funny. We will explore different methods of going from a "blank page" to a routine you can put up on its feet and on stage.
Rich Potter has been devising, writing and performing Clown, Standup Comedy, and Variety Juggling acts for over 35 years. From his career with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, to nearly a decade as a hospital clown through Big Apple Circus Clown Care, to co-founding and perfoming in nearly 100 acts at Clown Cabaret in Washington DC, Rich has found a variety of different methods to generating material.
His studies with Avner Eisenberg, Aitor Baisuri, Jango Edwards, Eric de Bont, Bill Irwin, David Shiner (and many others, in the USA and Europe), have shaped his roots with traditional American Circus Clown style learned through the now historic Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College.
